Volusia 24-Hour Release Feed
Volusia County does not publish a prefiltered feed of everyone released from its jails during the past day. The official Volusia inmate information search instead supports a person-by-person check. Its key control is Include Archive Records in Search. Once archive mode is on, a result can show an exact Release Date and an InCustody value. A populated release time with InCustody = N means that booking is no longer in Volusia County Division of Corrections custody.
The portal also has a Recent button. Its own title is Show Recent Bookings, so it must not be treated as a recent-release list. Likewise, the Clerk's daily product covers arrests and bookings. Neither product answers who left jail today. Only the archive timestamp can place a named county booking within the 24-hour window, while a public-record request is needed for a complete export.
Check Volusia Same-Day Releases
Start with a name or booking number. A booking number is the better key when two people share a name. The county search has no release-date-range filter, so each matching booking must be opened and read. The full named-person path is also covered on the Volusia County released inmates search.
- Open the county inmate inquiry and accept its records disclaimer.
- Enter the last name and first name, or use the booking number.
- Select Include Archive Records in Search before submitting.
- Match the name, Booking Date, booking number, and Inmate ID.
- Compare the exact Release Date with the current time. Confirm that
InCustodyisN. - Open the booking detail, note the Court Case Number, and check the Clerk docket if the court outcome matters.
A release timestamp proves that Volusia custody ended for that booking. It does not by itself prove that the person returned to the community. A transfer to the Florida Department of Corrections, another county, a federal custodian, or ICE is still a custody change.
Volusia Release Record Fields
The online result is a booking record, not a certified release list. Its fields help identify the correct event and show whether the person remains in county custody. The detail page then connects that booking to charges and a court case.

The county search warns that web data and images are not certified records. When the release code, authorizing order, or transfer destination matters, ask VCDC for the underlying jail record.

The captured controls provide name and booking-number search plus archive access, but no one-click list of releases during the last day.

The arrest-list capture documents bookings rather than exits, so a later archive release timestamp is still required for same-day release verification.
Request Volusia Release Exports
A complete list for a calendar day requires a request to the Volusia County Public Records Center. Give exact start and end timestamps. Ask for a machine-readable jail-management export if the County already keeps the data that way. Chapter 119 does not require staff to create a new record or format, so a narrow request is more useful than asking for all jail information.
Useful fields are booking number, Inmate ID, committed name, booking time, release time, releasing facility, release code or reason, court case, bond or pretrial indicator, transfer or hold destination, and whether a public booking photo exists. Keep the portal reference number. The County publishes no promised response time or fixed online archive period.
For immediate routing, call Booking/Bonding/Charges/Arrest at 386-254-1540 or the Branch Jail at 386-254-1555. Lobby screens at both county jail buildings also display release information. These channels can resolve a fresh event, while the records portal supplies documentary follow-up.
The request should distinguish the jail release record from a Sheriff's Office incident report. Volusia County Division of Corrections operates the county jail system and holds its booking and release data. The Sheriff's Office may hold a separate arrest or incident report. Asking the wrong custodian can delay a same-day inquiry without producing the release code, release authorization, or destination fields sought.
County copy charges follow Florida's public-record framework. The published fee page permits standard per-page charges, actual cost for other media, and a reasonable special-service charge when extensive staff or technology work is required. A narrow one-day time range and a short field list can reduce that work. Ask for an estimate before approving a broad export.
Volusia Release Versus Custody
Read the source by custody level. A live county result with no release time and InCustody = Y indicates that the booking is still active at VCDC. An archive row with a release time and N marks the end of county custody. If the person was received by FDC, the FDC Inmate Population search should show continued state confinement. A later state-prison release belongs in FDC Inmate Release Information, not in a Volusia 24-hour jail list.

Florida VINE can send a custody-change alert for a registered person. It is a notification layer, not the official release certificate. For a Tomoka state-prison case, use FDC release records. Federal cases require the BOP locator or federal court record.
Note: A blank live-roster result may reflect an alias, processing delay, transfer, protected record, or another custodian rather than a confirmed release.
When Volusia Releases Occur
A judge's order does not start the exit at once. The VCDC release FAQ says court must finish for the day, the person must return to the assigned unit, and Corrections must receive the paperwork. Once processing begins, it generally takes two to four hours. That interval explains why a court docket can show an order before the county archive shows a release time.
Since April 29, 2024, VCDC generally does not release a person between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. An exception applies when a responsible party is physically present, checks in with Control, and provides transportation away from the property. All women physically leave through the Volusia County Correctional Facility. The archive timestamp should still be checked after the physical process is complete.
Note: Court action, jail processing, and portal publication are separate events, so compare their timestamps before treating a same-day discrepancy as an error.
Getting Home After Volusia Release
Transportation can affect an overnight release plan. VoTran Route 10 serves a shelter at the Branch Jail, but it does not enter the jail parking lot. The released person must account for the walk and check the live route schedule. VoTran assistance is available at 386-761-7700.
VCDC's 2024 annual report also says its reentry team can provide local or state-specific bus passes for travel to family locations and can help coordinate transportation. That support does not alter the custody record. It addresses what happens after the release timestamp is posted.
Ordinary property held by Corrections is returned at release. Large bags or backpacks may instead remain with the arresting agency. Before release, the confined person may submit a tablet Property Release Form for approved early pickup. The Branch Jail can verify approval at 386-254-1555. Pickup is available around the clock with identification, and approval remains active for five days before the property goes back to storage. These details help a family plan the exit without mistaking property pickup for proof that custody has ended.
Volusia Bond Release Timing
The Branch Jail Booking Office handles bond information around the clock at 386-254-1555. At first appearance, a judge may change or continue bond, order release on recognizance, or place the person on Pretrial Supervision. The Seventh Judicial Circuit's 2026 bond schedule order guides discretionary release before first appearance, but it does not bind the judge.
A bond release ends county custody for that booking. It does not dismiss the pending case.
