Tomoka Camp Release Meaning

Tomoka Work Camp is an FDC satellite administratively attached to Tomoka Correctional Institution at the Tiger Bay Road complex. The 2025 state audit expressly reports a work-camp population. That current official record is the reason the camp has its own facility entry. It should not be mistaken for a county jail, local work-release program, or separate community facility.

Camp movement and release are different events. A person sent back to the main institution remains in state custody. The same is true when FDC moves the person to another institution or a state community-release placement. Only the offender's FDC status and release history can establish the end of state prison custody.

A county booking number does not replace a DC number. The Volusia archive might document an earlier jail stay before the state sentence, but it does not document release from the work camp. Each system proves only its own custody event.

Check Tomoka Camp Releases

The FDC Offender Network menu leads to separate searches for current prison population, inmate releases, supervised population, and absconders. Use the release database for a person believed to have left the camp. Use Search All only when the custody type is genuinely unknown because its fields are limited to those shared by the databases.

1. Select Inmate Release Information Search and enter the DC number when possible. A name search should use enough identifying detail to avoid a false match.
2. Open the matching profile. Compare the photo, DC number, name and aliases, offense, county, and sentence data.
3. Read the Release Date in context. Determine whether it is past or scheduled.
4. Inspect incarceration history for Date In-Custody and Date Out-Custody. A past out-custody date is the stronger physical-custody check.
5. Run a Supervised Population search after release. Prison custody can end while FDC community supervision continues.

FDC says Inmate Release Information updates nightly. The main population database updates weekly, with release-date and location changes updated nightly. A result that has not changed immediately after an expected event should be checked after the published update cycle. The Volusia County release search shows where the state path fits among county, court, federal, and immigration records.

If no release profile appears, check Inmate Population before deciding what happened. A new location can show transfer back to the main institution or movement elsewhere in FDC. Search by DC number to reduce name confusion, then try known aliases. A blank result can also reflect timing, a wrong identifier, or a different custody system. The records office is the fallback when public fields do not resolve the event.

Read Tomoka Camp Release Records

The FDC release search serves both released inmates and people scheduled for release. Mere presence in the database is therefore not enough. Compare the date to the current day and read the incarceration history. A future date remains a projection; a past Release Date paired with Date Out-Custody documents the completed FDC custody event.

FDC detail can also include an information-current date, photograph, committed name, aliases, custody level, DC number, offense and sentence history, county and case number, and detainer information where present. No single field proves that all court obligations or holds ended. Match the claim to the field.

The statutory term for the projected date is tentative release date. It can change after lawful credit, gain-time awards or forfeitures, court orders, sentence updates, or review. It should not be treated as a guaranteed pickup time.

Tomoka Camp Records Contact

The work camp's published telephone routes facility questions. FDC Admission and Release handles release-search issues. Because the camp is an FDC unit, the Volusia County Public Records Center is not the custodian for its prison release file.

A targeted FDC request can identify the DC number and ask for release-date calculation or history, release type, discharge status, supervision status, and facility movement history. Request the releasable prison photograph only when needed. If the record at issue is an earlier Volusia jail booking, make a separate county request for that booking rather than mixing the two custodians.

Questions about a projected date should identify the exact field shown on the public profile. FDC calls the display Current Release Date, while Florida law uses tentative release date for the underlying computation. A request can ask for the calculation history, lawful credits, and any recorded changes without assuming the date was final. Tomoka Camp Facility Context

The 2025 FDC audit confirms the main institution and attached camp at the same address. Its adult male population and state custody framework prevent a common error: reading “work camp” as though it were a county work-release site from which people simply go home each day.

Local county history belongs to a different system. Volusia's Correctional Facility opened in 1977 and Branch Jail in 1987. Newer county dorm construction raised combined VCDC design capacity to 1,722. Those dates and capacities do not apply to Tomoka Work Camp. They show why several corrections buildings in one part of Volusia County can still have distinct operators, files, and release paths.

Historical Daytona and Tomoka community-release unit names are not all cleanly confirmed as active under their old labels. An old directory entry should not be used to claim a current placement or release. Confirm the present location through FDC, and remember that community-release placement remains state custody until the state record says otherwise.

Tomoka Camp Supervision Records

After the out-custody event, search FDC Supervised Population. Its fields can identify a supervision type, current status, current office, supervision start, scheduled termination, photo, and offense history. The record is updated on a different schedule from the release database, which is another reason to check both.

Active means the person is under direct community supervision. Active Suspense can indicate temporary confinement elsewhere while FDC monitors the case. Absconder means the person became unavailable for supervision and a violation warrant issued. None of those labels should be replaced with a broad guess about whether supervision succeeded.

Probation, parole, and conditional release have different legal sources. A court generally imposes probation. The Florida Commission on Offender Review handles parole for a limited eligible population. Conditional release is another post-prison mechanism. The official label and order control.

The current supervision location identifies the assigned office. FDC's Daytona Circuit directory covers several offices in and around Volusia, but proximity alone does not establish responsibility. A scheduled termination date is an expected date, not a certificate of discharge. Confirm completion through the current record and the court or Commission order where the exact end of supervision matters.

Tomoka Camp Release Detainers

A detainer can change the destination after FDC custody ends without changing the fact that FDC released the person. Where the release profile shows detainer information, follow the named authority. A person can be out of state prison yet remain confined under a different legal basis.

Volusia's 287(g) Jail Enforcement Model agreement with ICE took effect in February 2025 and applies to county jail operations, not management of Tomoka Work Camp. It is still relevant when county and state custody events occur in sequence. If immigration custody is reasonably indicated, check the ICE Online Detainee Locator and use the ICE information line when the online result is unclear.

The camp is not a federal or ICE facility. No BOP prison or dedicated ICE detention center was identified in Volusia County. A federal sentence belongs in the BOP locator, while a federal pretrial release belongs in the court docket and actual holding-facility record.
